In order to guarantee a more neuro-affirmative approach to providing mental health care for autistic children and young people, the authors of 'Improving Mental Health Therapies for Autistic Children and Young People: Promoting Self-agency, Curiosity and Collaboration' suggest a model of neuro-informed practice that reflects the various components that may be incorporated into service design and delivery (Pavlopoulou et al., 2024).
All sections of the figure depend on one another to produce positive results, and the more overlaps there are between these elements, the more neuro-informed that service is. The elements in the figure represent the lenses through which we view our provision of services, the space we provide, in which effective collaborative working relationships can be formed and developed, as well as approaches that define the underlying processes and driving beliefs of a system to support autistic children and young people (Pavlopoulou et al., 2024).
